Clinician-led health system reform: Benefits for patients, payers, policy and practitioners

Perspectives & Insights

PROUDLY HOSTED BY

SESSION RECORDING

The session brought together healthcare leaders across policy, safety and quality and critical care to discuss the roles that clinicians can play in health system reform. There was general consensus around the value to health systems that can be derived from a clinician-led health system due to their nuanced understanding of a patient-centred approach. Challenges were identified such as the scope of clinician roles and pathways for professional and career development. Solutions offered included the inclusion of data and financial knowledge in undergraduate education as well as upskilling opportunities for clinicians to gain a better understanding to enable effective communication and strategy when collaborating across different sectors of the economy.
